Robyn Bernard, a beloved actress best known for her role on General Hospital, has passed away. She was 64.
Bernard, who played Terry Brock on the popular ABC soap opera for six years in the 1980s, was found dead early Tuesday morning in San Jacinto, California. According to the Riverside County Coroner’s Office, she was discovered around 4 a.m. in an open field behind a local business.
Authorities confirmed her identity through fingerprint records. The cause of death has not yet been determined. An autopsy was scheduled for Wednesday, with toxicology results expected in the coming weeks.
Career in Television and Film
Born on May 26, 1959, in Gladewater, Texas, Bernard began her acting career in the early 1980s. Her first credited role was in the 1981 film Diva. She went on to appear in shows such as Whiz Kids (1983) and The Facts of Life (1984) before landing her breakout role on General Hospital.
From 1984 to 1990, Bernard appeared in 145 episodes of the long-running soap as singer Terry Brock, Bobbie Spencer’s stepdaughter. Later in her career, she portrayed a psychologist in the 2002 TV movie Voices from the High School.
Her younger sister, Crystal Bernard, also found fame as an actress and singer. Crystal is widely recognized for her roles as Helen Chappel-Hackett on Wings, Amy on It’s a Living, and K.C. Cunningham on Happy Days.
Fans Pay Tribute
News of Bernard’s passing has deeply saddened fans of General Hospital, many of whom took to social media to share their condolences.
“General Hospital has had a rough year. Peace be with you,” one fan wrote.
Another posted, “Robyn Bernard, who played Bobbie’s stepdaughter Terry Brock, has died at age 64. May she rest in peace.”
A longtime viewer added, “The GH storylines were action-packed when she was on. RIP Robyn Bernard.”
Another Loss for General Hospital Family
Bernard’s death comes less than a year after the soap lost another of its beloved stars, Jacklyn Zeman, who portrayed Bobbie Spencer. Zeman died in May 2023 at the age of 70 following a battle with cancer.
At the time, General Hospital’s executive producer Frank Valentini paid tribute, calling Zeman “a bright light and true professional.” Fans and co-stars alike remembered her as an icon of daytime television.
With Bernard’s passing, viewers are once again mourning the loss of a performer who left a lasting mark on the General Hospital legacy.
